One thing each Miami Heat player needs to improve upon

Omer Yurtseven: Post defense

Omer Yurtseven showed that he can bang in the post and even knock down some threes during his time in Summer League. However, his defense could use some work.

He’s not a terrible defender, but if he can get to the point where he’s making a legitimate impact on that end, he could take over as the full-time backup center.

KZ Okpala: Three-point shooting

When he entered the league, the Miami Heat wanted KZ Okpala to be a 3&D player for them. Unfortunately, only one of those two things has come true.

Okpala has been a solid defender but just can’t seem to put things together on the offensive end. If he can at least make his threes at an efficient clip, he might earn some rotational minutes.

Gabe Vincent: Consistency

Gabe Vincent has shown flashes of being a really solid point guard in the NBA. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been able to do so on a consistent basis.

The Miami Heat plan on making him the full-time backup point guard this year. If he can be consistent, then that will look like a genius decision by Erik Spoelstra.

Max Strus: Confidence

Max Strus is an elite three-point shooter, anyone who watched Summer League knows this. All he needs to do is play with the same confidence he had in Summer League in the actual NBA.

He should take a page out of Duncan Robinson’s book and shoot every time he touches the ball. Miami has a ton of faith in Strus, so all he has to do now is deliver.
