With the way the roster is built, the Miami Heat have a legit chance at competing for a championship. They will clearly have a defensive mindset, and that’s what will end up winning them so many games.

However, there’s more to the game than just defense. At the end of the day, someone is going to have to step up and score some points.

Outside of maybe Tyler Herro, Miami doesn’t really have anyone on the roster with a score-first mindset. Jimmy Butler can be that guy, but that’s not the role he excels in.

This doesn’t mean that the players on the Heat can’t score, just that they haven’t been primary scorers yet in their career. If given the opportunity, there are a number of players who could lead the team in scoring this season.

With that in mind, which players on the Heat could legitimately average 20 points per game? Realistically, there are five different players that come to mind.

Miami Heat players who could average 20 PPG: Jimmy Butler

This one is by far the most obvious of the bunch considering Jimmy Butler just averaged over 20 points per game last season. He’s the clear choice to be the team’s leading scorer once again this season.

Butler has been the go-to scoring option for the Heat for the past two seasons. However, that’s not necessarily the role he’s best at.

The All-Star forward thrives as a playmaker and primary ball-handler. He can score when he needs to, but he is at his best when he is creating shots for others.

All that being said, Butler is a clear choice to average upwards of 20 points per game. If the Miami Heat need someone to step up and score when no one else will, it’s going to be Butler.
