Current players most likely to retire with the Miami Heat: Jimmy Butler

As soon as Jimmy Butler signed with the Heat in 2019, it was clear that it was a match made in heaven. He fell in love with the city and organization and never looked back.

Based on the stories his agent has told alone, it seems as though Butler has no interest in playing anywhere else. The plan is to retire as a member of the Miami Heat.

Butler just signed a massive extension to stay with the team for the next four years. Though it was initially reported that it would be a four-year deal, it is actually a three-year extension.

The deal will pay Butler anywhere from $135 to $146 million, depending on incentives. Considering his age, it’s a massive contract for the Heat to give him.

He is currently 36 years old and will be 39 by the time the contract is over. That is a ton of money to be paying someone who is about to turn 40.

However, the contract will allow Butler and Kyle Lowry to spend three years in Miami together before both their contracts are off the books. In that sense, it actually is a solid deal for Miami.

Regardless, Butler has made it abundantly clear that he has no interest in playing anywhere else but Miami. He loves the city way too much and now the city loves him.

It would be an utter shock to see him sign elsewhere once his contract is over. Expect Butler to retire in South Beach when it’s all said and done.
