Areas where the Miami Heat need to improve: Three-point shooting

The Miami Heat were one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the league last year. They ended the season 19th overall in three-point percentage.

Duncan Robinson was their go-to three-point shooter last year, and he will be again this year. However, they may have relied on him a bit too much last season.

Without his makes and attempts, the Heat would have been a much worse three-point shooting team than they already were. Instead of 19th in the league, they would have finished in the bottom three.

Miami should not be relying on solely one person to carry their three-point attack. That is a recipe for disaster, but one the Heat did manage to address this summer.

Pat Riley signed Kyle Lowry and PJ Tucker in free agency, and also managed to bring back multiple key pieces. Those moves should help them shoot more efficiently from deep.

Tucker alone will have a huge impact on Miami’s offense. Not only will his three-point shooting improve their numbers, but his ability to space the floor will open up shots for others from range.

Add Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, and Omer Yurtseven to that mix, and Miami should be a much better team from deep this year. If they want to make a run at the title, they’re going to have to be.
