When the Miami Heat signed Duncan Robinson to a five-year extension, they knew that they were getting one of the best shooters in the league. However, Robinson will now have a ton of expectations.

He will be making around $18 million per season. With that kind of money comes some real big expectations from both the organizations and the fans.

Well, luckily for both of those parties, Robinson is primed for a breakout season. This could end up being the best season of his career thus far.

Bold prediction: Duncan Robinson will average 20+ points for the Miami Heat this season

Robinson has the potential to be the go-to scorer for the Miami Heat based on his three-point shooting alone. There is a serious chance he could inch towards that 20 points per game mark.

The Heat have surrounded him with more weapons than ever. With the playmaking of Kyle Lowry and Jimmy Butler, Robinson is in the best position possible to succeed.

Those two players will be able to generate so many open looks for Robinson on the perimeter. Each of them was elite at creating points off of assists last year.

Last season, Lowry ranked 10th in the NBA in points created off assists per game (19.2). On top of that, Butler ranked 13th (18.2).

A lot of those looks are going to be going to Robinson this season, as he is by far Miami’s best outside threat. In addition, Robinson will be able to get more open looks than ever because of the team’s new and improved spacing.

By signing Lowry and PJ Tucker, the Miami heat added two new three-point shooters to a team that desperately needed exactly that. Since opposing defenses will have to worry about covering those two, Robinson should get more open shots from deep.

All of these factors combined lead to the conclusion that Robinson will have a breakout year. His scoring will be crucial to the success of the Miami Heat.
