Miami Heat point guard depth chart: Third-string – Tyler Herro
Tyler Herro played some point guard in the last two seasons, and he will probably continue to do so this year. However, his main role will probably be as a shooting guard.
The young star has shown some solid ball-handling abilities thus far in his career. While he may not handle the ball as much this season, he certainly is capable of doing so.
Having him as a backup option for Gabe Vincent is great. If Vincent ends up struggling at any point, Herro will be able to step in as the backup point guard.
As mentioned, Herro will likely spend most of his time at shooting guard. Regardless, it’s always nice to have an extra player who is able to handle the ball and playmake.
Miami Heat point guard depth chart: Fourth-string – Marcus Garrett
The move isn’t official yet, but many people assume that the Miami Heat will sign Marcus Garrett to a two-way contract. The 6-5 combo guard would be able to provide some solid depth at the one.
The only reason he wouldn’t be the third-string point guard over Tyler Herro is because of his status as a two-way player. He would only be able to play 50 games with Miami.
Garrett’s defensive skills are already elite, and he hasn’t even played an NBA game yet. His scrappiness and toughness are both things the Heat love to have on their roster.
Hopefully, Miami actually signs him instead of letting him slip away as they did with DeJon Jarreau. He has a ton of potential to be a great defensive point guard in the NBA.
