The Miami Heat and Pat Riley put together a solid roster going into this season. They added the necessary pieces in order to try and compete for a championship.

Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo make up one of the best trios in the entire league. Due to that, the starting point guard, small forward, and center positions are set.

Past that, however, there could be some room for interpretation. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it just means that the Miami Heat need to address certain positions on the roster.

Which positions do they need to address and figure out as the season progresses? Which ones should the organization, and the fans, be looking at with a magnifying glass?

Positions on the roster for the Miami Heat to address: Backup point guard

Reportedly, the Miami Heat have already addressed this position. According to sources, they plan on making Gabe Vincent the full-time backup point guard.

However, there is no guarantee that he keeps that position for the entire season. If he fails to live up to the team’s expectations, then the Heat could, and should, look to replace him at the trade deadline.

Having a backup point guard on the roster is crucial, despite the fact that Lowry is an All-Star caliber starter. A team needs multiple players at the one in order to be at their best.

Ideally, Vincent is able to play more consistently at the NBA level, something he has been unable to do in the past. However, if he ends up struggling, this position might need to be readdressed.
