Young NBA free agents the Miami Heat should sign: Frank Ntilikina

In theory, Frank Ntilikina is the perfect backup point guard for the Miami Heat. However, in practice, it may not seem that way at first glance.

On paper, Ntilikina is an elite defender on the perimeter and just shot over 45% from three-point range last season. Those stats are a tad bit misleading, though.

Ntilikina shot 47.9% from deep but only took 48 total threes on the year. This means he only made 23 threes, but the percentage does look great.

In all seriousness, there is still hope for Ntilikina in the NBA. If the Heat give him a limited role as a shooting guard off the bench, he could succeed.

His only jobs would be to defend the perimeter and make open threes. He wouldn’t have to worry about anything else but those two things.

Learning under the likes of Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, and Duncan Robinson would surely help him in all aspects of his game. Despite being around for what seems like forever, Ntilikina is still super young.

The French guard is only 23 years old and has plenty of time to reach his full potential. New York’s loss could end up being Miami’s gain if things go their way.

Worst case scenario, things don’t work out and Ntilikina is gone after one season. However, the best-case scenario is that Ntilikina becomes a lethal 3&D guard for the Miami Heat.
