Reflecting on Miami Heat NBA trade rumors this offseason: Brandon Ingram

This was by far the weirdest trade rumor of the summer, especially considering how young the core is in New Orleans. Them trading away Ingram would make almost zero sense.

Adam Borai of Five Reasons Sports first reported this rumor when he said that Ingram would “welcome a trade” to Miami. While that makes sense, the Pelicans’ interest in the deal did not.

That is, however, until he also dropped the bomb that the Pelicans love Duncan Robinson. Therefore, a swap of those two of some sort could have been in talks.

Realistically, a deal of this proportion seems highly unlikely. That being said, nothing is impossible in the NBA, so maybe the Pelicans could be crazy enough to shop Ingram.

If this were to be true, the Heat getting in on the action would make perfect sense. Prior to the Lowry signing, they were in the market to add a third star, and Ingram fits that bill.

Unfortunately, any hopes for an Ingram deal are likely dead now that Lowry is on the team. The money just doesn’t make sense with Ingram on a max contract.
