Re-drafting the 2020 NBA Draft: 2. Anthony Edwards, Golden State Warriors

player. 41. . SG. Golden State Warriors. Anthony Edwards. 2

Original pick: James Wiseman

Warriors 2020 starting lineup

  • Stephen Curry
  • Andrew Wiggins
  • Kelly Oubre Jr
  • Draymond Green
  • James Wiseman

New Warriors 2020 starting lineup

  • Stephen Curry
  • Anthony Edwards
  • Andrew Wiggins
  • Draymond Green
  • Kevon Looney

Despite their original pick still being on the board, the Warriors instead select Anthony Edwards second overall. He is the second-best player in this draft as of now and would fit well with Golden State’s 2020 team.

Having Stephen Curry alongside him, Anthony Edwards could thrive as a cutter while also improving as a spot-up shooter. His defense would also be a great help to the Warriors’ backcourt.

Andrew Wiggins would be able to start at small forward, and Kelly Oubre Jr would become an elite sixth man. Starting Kevon Looney wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, either, considering he already started a bunch of games last year.

Edwards would also be a much better trade chip for the Warriors if they had picked him. They are reportedly looking to deal James Wiseman right now, but trading Edwards would be much easier.

He would have been a better pick any way you look at it, regardless of if he would be used as trade bait or an actual piece on their team.
