The Miami Heat originally drafted Precious Achiuwa with this pick, but instead, choose to take a wing in this re-draft. Devin Vassell falls to the Miami Heat at pick 20 when he originally went 11th.

In hindsight, it may not have been the best move to select a young, raw center with Bam Adebayo on the roster. Choosing Vassell allows the Miami Heat to improve their wing depth.

Vassell’s biggest strength as a player is his defense, something that the Miami Heat build their foundation on. His defensive-minded play would fit in beautifully in South Beach.

While Vassell wasn’t a great shooter in his rookie season, he definitely showed that he could develop into a solid 3&D guy. Every team needs 3&D players on their roster.

He could turn into an elite perimeter defender, and playing in the Miami Heat system would do wonders for him. Vassell heading to the Miami Heat makes a ton of sense in this re-draft.
