Re-drafting the 2020 NBA Draft: 6. Isaac Okoro, Atlanta Hawks

Original pick: Onyeka Okongwu

Hawks 2020 starting lineup

  • Trae Young
  • Bogdan Bogdanovic
  • Kevin Huerter
  • John Collins
  • Clint Capela

No changes to the starting lineup, but the Hawks take Isaac Okoro in this re-draft. With Trae Young as their star, having a ton of defensive-minded players around him is ideal.

The Hawks also have enough shooting to cover up Okoro’s struggles in that realm. He would be able to focus on doing what he does best – playing elite defense.

In hindsight, drafting Onyeka Okongwu wasn’t the best pick, even if he does have the potential to turn into a solid center. They already have Clint Capela, so why take a project at the five.

Okoro showed that he could compete at the NBA level last year, starting every single game he played in for the Cleveland Cavaliers. With the Hawks being so young, having a more NBA-ready player would have been nice.

Atlanta already has a ton of wings, but they shouldn’t pass up on a defender as good as Okoro because of it. He’s their pick in this re-draft.
