Best trade the Miami Heat made with the Cleveland Cavaliers: Dwyane Wade

The “trade” for LeBron James doesn’t really count, to be honest. He chose to sign with the Miami Heat and then the Cavs wanted to make it a sign-and-trade.

If that were a real trade, it would have won the title of the best trade by far. However, since it’s not, the trade for Dwyane Wade takes the cake.

The fact that the Miami Heat were able to get Wade back for the final years of his career is amazing. He is the best player in franchise history and it was truly special that he was able to end his career where it all began.

The best part about the trade is that Miami didn’t even have to give up much to get him. They only had to give up a second-round pick in exchange for him.

At that point in time, the Cavaliers were completely changing the way their team looked. It would end up being James’ final year in Cleveland, and they gutted the team at the trade deadline.

It didn’t end up working out for the Cavs, but it worked out great for the Miami Heat. Wade was even fairly productive in his final years with the Heat.

While this trade didn’t directly lead to team success, it was important in the sense that it brought Wade home. Getting someone as legendary as Wade back makes this trade the best ever.
