Major storylines to watch this Miami Heat season: Three-point shooting

One of Miami’s biggest issues last season was a severe lack of offense. They struggled to put points on the board in every way, but their main problem came from behind the three-point line.

The Heat were one of the worst three-point shooting teams last season. They finished in the bottom half of the league in three-point percentage.

If it weren’t for Duncan Robinson, they would have been even worse. If you subtract Robinson’s makes and attempts from Miami’s totals, they would have finished as a bottom three three-point shooting team.

If the Miami Heat want to effectively compete for a championship this season, they need to improve in that regard. Luckily, they seem to have made the necessary changes to do so this season.

First and foremost, the Heat added two solid three-point shooters to their roster in Kyle Lowry and PJ Tucker. They also re-signed key shooters such as Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, and even Omer Yurtseven.

They have a bunch of new faces around this season that can contribute from beyond the arc. Those responsibilities won’t have to fall on solely Robinson’s shoulders this year.

It will be very important to keep an eye on their three-point shooting numbers throughout the season. If they are good, the Miami Heat should be able to put together a deep playoff run.
