Options for the final Miami Heat roster spot: Not use it at all

While this option may not seem appealing to some fans, it might be the best option the Miami Heat have. This would – no pun intended – actually allow them to keep their options completely open.

With the way the team is laid out, the Miami Heat don’t have any pressing need for any type of player. It may be nice to add more depth, but they don’t necessarily need any.

Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, and Kyle Lowry already make up one of the league’s best Big 3s. Past that, Miami actually has a decent amount of depth to support them.

Instead of scrambling to fill the final roster spot, the Heat could simply save it. This would allow them some flexibility throughout the season.

Say Marcus Garret or Caleb Martin really impress in their first few stints with the Heat. If Pat Riley likes them enough, he could simply sign them to a real contract.

In addition, having an open roster spot will allow the Miami Heat to be players around the trade deadline. They could add an extra player in a trade without giving one up.

Also, this makes the buyout market much easier to traverse. They would not have to cut a player in order to sign one who just got bought out.

So, with the current state of the team in mind, why not just leave the spot open? That might be the best option for the Miami Heat right now.
