The San Antonio Spurs stick with the same line of thinking here by taking a center. However, this time, they choose to go with Nic Claxton with the nineteenth overall pick.

San Antonio originally selected Luka Samanic with this pick. Up to this point in his career, Samanic hasn’t really done much with his NBA minutes on the Spurs.

As for Claxton, he has been a great surprise for the Brooklyn Nets so far in his short NBA career. He hasn’t gotten too many opportunities, but when he has been on the court, he has been impressive.

Claxton is an athletic big man who can defend the post and the perimeter. This sort of versatility would give the Spurs a big-time upgrade at the center position.

While Jakob Poeltl is a solid NBA player, but Claxton is younger, and has more potential. With this pick, the Spurs get their potential center of the future in Claxton at pick nineteen.
