The Miami Heat will certainly need Bam Adebayo to be the best version of himself in this upcoming season. If he can be, then they will certainly be title contenders.

That includes him being as aggressive on offense as humanly possible, but also that same tenacious defense he’s been known for. He’ll be asked to continue to make plays for his teammates, but then he’ll also have someone to make a few plays for him now, with Kyle Lowry in tow and another guy who makes them a title contender.

Back to Bam’s defensive prowess though and even though he’s still elite, there are certain matchups that have traditionally given him issues. They would be against the bigger bigs in the league, such as Joel Embiid or The JokerNikola Jokić.

The Miami Heat need the best version of Bam Adebayo to win a title this season. They’ll get it too and bigger, from a ton of weight room work this offseason.

Well, hopefully, that won’t be an issue in the coming season and beyond. Here is why.

It comes from Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald really positive news and words from Bam Adebayo, himself.

"I got in the weight room. Just because last year, I couldn’t lift as much as I could because I had my shoulder injury from the Finals. So I was thinner up top than I should’ve been. That comes with recovery. Since we had such a short offseason and went straight into last season, I could only do so much. But this offseason, I’ve really been in the weight room and made a conscious effort to get my body back where it was"

Adebayo would also state that though “came in last year at like 245”, he’s not “at 260” and “a lot of muscle” is what that weight is. While this should raise the expectation and excited anxiety when he is in the triple threat on offense, putting him in the position to dunk on the entire opposing defense, it should also excite a ton about the potential on defense.

In those matchups that have bothered him in the past, against those bigger dudes, this should be a massive help there. That’s why you shouldn’t be able to wait to see what Bam Adebayo and his returning bulk can do.

It should be a very intriguing situation all-around, but especially on defense.
