The Miami Heat season is underway! Though only a preseason game, the Heat got things underway on Monday with a contest against Atlanta.

Getting out to a double-digit run and lead to start the game, while also holding Atlanta scoreless, the Miami Heat jumped on them and maintained control throughout the game. While Atlanta found a way to make it close at points throughout the first half, the Miami Heat went up by 20 points on several occassions.

Trae Young would leave early due to injury and while the Miami Heat would rest Kyle Lowry and sit P.J. Tucker in the second half with a groin situation, the game was never in question. Again, it’s a preseason game and though the results don’t say much, it was impressive and this was all with Jimmy Butler sitting out the entire game for management reasons.

None of that is even the story though. The whole story right now is Tyler Herro and his dominance throughout the game.

Everything that’s been said or seen throughout the offseason was seen in some form or fashion in the first preseason game. He scored, he created, he defended, and he did it all with a certain control and aggression that he didn’t necessarily have prior to this display.

The Miami Heat had a great showing in their first action of the season. Though preseason, the team and Tyler Herro looked like something special is in store.

His handle and defensive effort was especially noticeable. Though a goaltending on one try, he had two nasty looking chase-down style blocks in the game.

On top of that, his offense was also on full display. Along with the nasty floater-game that he still has in complete control, he shot the range shot off the bounce and made things happen on the way to the rim in that manner as well.

As noted by the broadcast guys, he’s a true three-level scorer when he’s right, capable of getting it done from deep, at the cup, and in the middle areas. He was certainly on and right on Monday, scoring 14 straight Miami Heat points at one point early in the game.

Herro would finish his night early in the second half, though pacing the team with 26 minutes played, with totals of 26 points, four rebounds, and four assists. He would go 9-12 from the floor and 3-4 from range.

The Miami Heat would win the game in blowout fashion, 125-99. Again and for the umpteenth but final time, it was just preseason, but it was a great night for what the Miami Heat showed and that went especially for the Boy Wonder, Tyler Herro.

It was the perfect way for him to start his bounce-back year off right.
