Under-the-radar Eastern Conference players the Miami Heat need to watch out for: Jordan Nwora & OG Anunoby

Jordan Nwora

While Jaylen Brown is a name most people know, Jordan Nwora is probably not. He’s a role player for the Milwaukee Bucks, but he’s carving out a pretty big role for himself on that team.

Nwora played for Team Nigeria this summer and was impressive there, before playing for Milwaukee’s Summer League team as well. He has been great this preseason for the Bucks.

Through three games Nwora is averaging 20.3 points on 48-50-75 shooting splits. If he keeps up that efficiency, he could make a big-time impact off of Milwaukee’s bench.

After what Bryn Forbes did to the Miami Heat last year, they should be wary of Milwaukee’s shooters. Nwora certainly falls under that classification this year.

OG Anunoby

OG Anunoby has been the best player on the Toronto Raptors this preseason. Fred VanVleet even recently stated that he is their “number one option” right now.

After missing a bunch of games last season, Anunoby seems to have returned with a vengeance. Not only is he a great defender, but his offense is looking much improved.

So far this preseason, Anunoby is averaging 19.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. He shot 52.0% from the field, 54.2% from three-point range, and 92.3% from the free-throw line.

If Anunoby keeps up this level of production, he could be the Raptors’ leading scorer this season. Miami needs to keep an eye out on how well he performs this year.
