Miami Heat: Biggest Preseason Takeaways Before Season Opener

Miami Heat: If Preseason-Tyler Herro Continues, The Ceiling Is A Title
This next spotlight is well deserved and for many is their biggest takeaway of the Miami Heat preseason. That’s the resurgence of Tyler Herro.
He looked spectacular, averaging 22.4 points per game off bench. He looked comfortable getting to his spots on the floor, whether it was the mid-range pull up, scoring in transition, or even taking opponents to the basket while drawing contact.
We didn’t see too much of that last season, so being able to get to the line can open up more opportunities for him to score. Either way, he just seemed very relaxed and didn’t look too bothered.
The Boston game is great to look at because of the five threes that he hit and out of six attempts. That type of high efficiency would increase the Miami Heat title odds big time.
The next talking point is Max Strus. Man, does that guy have the guts?
Max feared no one in this year’s summer league and definitely no one in the preseason. I think Max has solidified himself as a rotational player and with the lack of growth from Okpala, I’m sure Spoelstra has no problem handing those minutes to Max.
My last bright spot goes to Bam Adebayo. Everyone noticed his aggressiveness in these games but for me, who is a big Bam advocate, it was awesome seeing him punish smaller defenders and to just not think twice.
The mid-ranges were never really an area of hesitation, as he pulled them and though he didn’t make all of them, the attempts were there. He was actively looking to score and did.
Another thing with Bam, if you were wondering if Bam’s defense is still DPOY-level worthy, don’t worry, he’s still that guy. From switching onto quick guards like Jalen Green to guarding the bigs like Christian Wood, the diversity in his defensive prowess is still there and from what we’ve seen so far, is only going to get better.
So, those were my preseason takeaways and again, nothing too crazy, as there was mostly only first-half play by the regular guys as they get their feet wet. However, I do think these were things from these games to point out, to notice, and these were it.
