Miami Heat: Predicting the rotation for the season opener

What the Miami Heat rotation will be on opening night: Bench players

This is where things start to get a bit more subjective. Erik Spoelstra could choose to play a whole number of players, but who are the five that will get the most minutes off the bench?

Tyler Herro

With the way he played in the preseason, Tyler Herro will undoubtedly be the first man off Miami’s bench tomorrow night. He has all the tools to be a Sixth Man of the Year candidate.

Herro was seemingly scoring at will in the preseason and will hope to take that momentum into the regular season. Expect a breakout year from Miami’s budding star.

Max Strus

Second to only Herro, Max Strus was one of the most impressive players this preseason. His shooting has really come a long way since the Heat signed him last year.

Having that sort of offensive production off the bench will be crucial to Miami’s success. Strus could be surprising a lot of people around the league this season.

Markieff Morris

The Heat have a fairly defined depth chart at the power forward position – PJ Tucker first and Markieff Morris second. His tough, rugged style of play fits right in with the Heat.

Morris wasn’t amazing in the preseason, but that won’t stop him from earning regular minutes. He’s the go-to backup power forward to start the year.

Gabe Vincent

Earlier this offseason, it was reported that the Heat would make Gabe Vincent their primary backup point guard. Based on the preseason, those reports were true.

Vincent acted as the backup one all preseason, and he did a pretty good job. All they need him to do is play make a little and make his shots, and he can definitely do that.

Dewayne Dedmon

Lastly, the Heat will likely go with Dewayne Dedmon as the primary backup center. The only reason he is projected fifth off the bench is because of Omer Yurtseven.

Next. 3 players who could surprise everyone this season. dark

While Dedmon will get the nod to start the season, there’s always a chance that Yurtseven steals this job from him. For now though, Dedmon is sure to do a great job coming off the bench for the Miami Heat.
