The Miami Heat came into this season with very high expectations for themselves. While the additions of guys like Kyle Lowry and others is something that many thought and knew would set them apart, the further development of their returning guys was also something to greatly look forward to.

Specifically, there was one guy who had a ton to prove, especially with the opportunity and the expectations before him to have a huge year this season. That guy is Tyler Herro.

Early, but throughout the preseason and young season thus far, he has not disappointed. While he amazed and captivated in the NBA Preseason, with one dud against Charlotte and though just the preseason, he has continued his explosive ways two games into the year.

The Miami Heat have title hopes this season and they should. With that though, a huge part of what they hope to do will be about Tyler Herro and his production.

Averaging 28.5 points, eight rebounds, and 2.5 assists across his first two games of the year and though not as efficient in the second outing in a loss to the Pacers on Saturday, Herro’s role appears to be locked in and tailor-made to his game, skillset, and mentality.

He’s a high-output and high-volume scorer for the Miami Heat. If you need any indication of why or how that’s the case, take the 46 field goal attempts across his first two games and specifically the 28 attempts in his last game.

The thing about it, though, is that if he’s going to make good use of those shots, hitting a huge range shot near the end of the Pacers game to keep the Miami Heat alive in example, then that’s fine and dandy. The other thing about is this.

It sets him up perfectly for his own personal NBA Sixth Man Of The Year campaign. While he should be in the running for two regular-season awards before it’s all said and done, that one and the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award, he should certainly be at the top of the running for the best next man after the starting five.

That’s, not only, because he looks to be a man on the mission this year, but if the Heat want to climb to their presumed heights, they’ll need him to be that. They should though and he should be too, which is why you can only admit that Tyler Herro’s Sixth Man Of The Year bid has officially gotten off to a rather fruitful start.
