The Miami Heat have shocked the NBA with their fantastic opening to the 2021-22 season. They are sitting at 6-2 and near the top of the Eastern Conference. They have the best defense in the NBA and the second best offense.

The Heat have a real chance to take home some regular season awards this year. They should be able to win, at least, one but it is definitely possible that they see their guys in contention for more than one award this season.

Could they win them all? Probably not, because there is a lot of talent across the NBA.

Regardless, the Heat are one of the best teams this year and the guys are playing as though they might want some awards to show for it. Here is a ranking of how likely any member of the Miami Heat is to win each regular season award.

6. Rookie Of the Year- Omer Yurtseven

The Heat have a very small chance of winning the Rookie of the Year Award. This year’s draft class is so talented.

There are already so many rookies who have been playing incredibly, such as Toronto’s Scottie Barnes, Indiana’s Chris Duarte, and Cleveland’s Evan Mobley. The first overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft, Cade Cunningham, has yet to find his rhythm in games, but has to still be a contender.

When he does, he will be, yet another, leading candidate for the award. That’s not even mentioning Jalen Green, who is one of the purest scorers in the 2021 draft class.

If he works on his shot selection, he could be one of the best players in the league. Miami doesn’t have the best odds at securing this award, but it is technically possible.

Omer Yurtseven is their, most likely, candidate. He is good at collecting a lot of rebounds in a few minutes.

The problem is, well, just that. He plays too few minutes to be considered for the award.

So far this year, he has averaged just 3.5 minutes per game, most of which have come at the end of games in the stretch which some people refer to as “garbage time”. That doesn’t seem like it will change this year.

The Heat are already covered with their centers, with Bam Adebayo playing a heavy amount of minutes and Dewayne Dedmon filling in when he needs to rest. It doesn’t look like the Heat will win this award this year.

The Heat are far more likely to win the rest of the awards on the list though.
