Miami Heat: Tyler Herro Could And Should Be Looking Towards Two Awards
It would be an understatement to say that Tyler Herro is off to a great start to the season. He is averaging over 22 points per game, which is seven points higher compared to last season.
4. Most Improved Player- Tyler Herro
His scoring looks pure and clearly worked upon. The game seems to have slowed down for Boy Wonder, as it looks easy for him now.
Scoring isn’t the only area he has improved on. His already-excellent footwork looks better than ever.
Coming off screens, he is either getting a bucket or finding the open man. That brings us to his next clear improvement, which is his passing ability.
Averaging 4.4 assists compared to 3.4 the previous season, Herro’s decision making looks better.
His elite scoring, so far, has drawn the attention of the defense, thus opening up opportunities for Herro’s teammates, who he has had no problem finding.
Lastly, his percentages have all improved. He is scorching hot from all areas, shooting 47 percent from the field, 41 percent from deep, and 85 percent from the line.
That’s actually pretty close to 50/40/90 splits. If he brings his shooting up and joins the 50/40/90 club, he must be awarded the Most Improved Player Award.
Assuming he doesn’t do that but maintains his current percentages, it is still impressive. Tyler clearly worked hard this offseason and clearly improved.
The only thing stopping Herro from winning this award is whether or not he is the most improved player. He has clearly improved, but so have players such as Ja Morant and Miles Bridges.
All three players have made significant leaps, so far, this year. We will see who can maintain the consistency to win this award.
