The topic of John Wall, potentially, joining the Miami Heat has long been a rumor. That dates back to, at least, his days with the Wizards, as far back as 2018.

Last year, he was traded to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Russell Westbrook. That situation hasn’t panned out though, at all.

With the rumors of John Wall possibly asking for a buyout with the Rockets starting to flare out, perhaps, would the Miami Heat still pursue signing Wall? Currently, John Wall is the third-highest paid player in the NBA, behind Stephen Curry and James Harden.

He is expected to receive $44.3 million this season and has a player option for $47.4 million in the 2022-23 season. The Heat are reported to have an interest in acquiring John Wall, but with the reported news about how he plans to move from here out, it’s a toss-up.

Even still, Miami would need to be willing to get creative to avoid going over both the salary cap and the luxury tax in any likely deal.

The topic of John Wall going to the Miami Heat has long been a rumor. Being traded to Houston last season, he seems done as a Rocket… already.

Though not playing this season and for the reasons of moving forward for both parties, John Wall averaged 20.6 points per game, 3.2 rebounds per game, and 6.9 assists per game last season across 40 starts for the Rockets.

He did so while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 31 percent from three on just over six attempts. As many can remember, Wall suffered a season-ending injury during 2018-19 season after playing only 32 games.

He, then, didn’t play for a huge chunk of time to focus on his rehabilitation. If the Heat decide to sign John Wall, somehow and someway, Miami will get additional firepower for their backcourt and would certainly boost their chances of being apart of the 2021-22 NBA Finals.

So, the question is… will the Heat sign John Wall if and/or after his buyout with the Rockets? They’d be right there in the mix, if all indications are correct and you’d think he’d be interested.

With the Miami Heat being right in the thick of things for contention and being known for helping guys get back to themselves on the court, it would be a mutually beneficial arrangement.

Ironically enough, the Miami Heat (9-5) will play the Washington Wizards (10-3) on Thursday night in Miami at the FTX Arena in their next contest, before traveling to Washington to face them again on Saturday.

With the Wizards getting off to a pretty good start to the season themselves, it should make for a pretty good set of contests.
