Miami Heat: Gabe Vincent Needs To Keep Seizing His Opportunity
The Miami Heat’s first game after Christmas would look to be a game of adjustments from the very start. Though they would be getting Jimmy Butler back into the lineup after nearly a month away, they would be without Kyle Lowry, entering the NBA’s Health And Safety Protocols recently.
They would also get another guy back off of those same protocols in Caleb Martin, but they were still without P.J Tucker. They also lost Dewayne Dedmon in their last contest to a knee spring, the guy that had been starting for Bam Adebayo, so that was something else.
They were able to account for the plethora of absences with the return of some of the other guys, while Omer Yurtseven gave the Heat what they needed from the perspective of a big man’s presence.
However and on top of all of that, there was one guy that really continued to seize his opportunity. Playing at a high level recently, anyway, Gabe Vincent now has a chance to really highlight his value and talent with Kyle Lowry out.
The Miami Heat, once again, need all hands on deck with another absence. Gabe Vincent should have a special opportunity with Kyle Lowry missing time though.
Gabe Vincent found himself able to do what few could do better on Sunday against the Magic. Finishing with just 13 points, five rebounds, and eight assists on 5/14 shooting and 3/8 from three, it was mostly about him being able to get into the other team’s paint and do damage.
Though he didn’t really get going with his own offense until the second half, he found a way to continuously get into the paint and make plays for his teammates throughout the entire game.
As again, he would eventually get to his own offense, he got to the front of the hoop for huge touch floaters and fall-away shots to help his Miami Heat team seal the victory. Those two abilities will be huge for a whole Heat team looking to make a deep postseason run but are especially valuable with two of their top three playmakers down in Lowry and Bam.
Jimmy Butler is going to be one of the best all-around guys on the floor every night, including making plays for himself and his team, but you need other guys to step up and especially if Tyler Herro isn’t going to have a signature showing as the case was on Sunday.
Gabe Vincent did that and not in that much different of a manner than Kyle Lowry would have, though to a lesser magnitude. Vincent isn’t Lowry and does have help in fulfilling those minutes, but he still has a massive opportunity to show his best stuff right now.
If he plans to play as he has been, that shouldn’t be an issue.
