Miami Heat: Jimmy Butler Is About Winning… Nothing More And Nothing Less

Jimmy Butler is adept at winning. That’s all he’s about.

Whatever that takes and however he has to get it done, that’s what he’ll do. Whether that be making it happen for his teammates or himself, he’s onboard.

BUTLER’S FLOOR GAME REPRESENTS THE CURRENT NBA — DRAWING MULTIPLE DEFENDERS AND DISHING

It’s generally known that Butler is a relentless inside finisher and on most occasions, he drives with the intent to score or initiate contact. He’s fully capable of manipulating defenders and throughout much of the second half, he continued to alternate between his scoring and playmaking traits.

During this play, the game was blown open late in the third quarter, as the Heat were leading by a considerable margin. However, it didn’t keep Jimmy from continuing to fool the defense before taking his usual early fourth-quarter rest.

It begins with one of the game’s best cutters pivoting through the middle lane, as Butler receives a direct inside pass from Herro. At this point in the game, creativity is afforded here and Butler draws two defenders under the basket.

This sets up KZ Okpala for the easy two-handed finish.

There will always be significant times where the ball should be in Butler’s hands and in three seasons with Miami, he’s proven to be consistent at making the right decisions while keeping his turnovers down.

Though he did commit all four of his giveaways in the second quarter, alone, against the Wizards, he followed that up by committing zero in the second half. As he continues to lead this team in scoring, the Heat should never shy away from running their offense through Butler.

He’s a multifaceted player on both ends and one that is on pace to lead his franchise to its third consecutive postseason berth, including a trip to the 2020 NBA Finals.

Jimmy doesn’t just Get Buckets — but he Gets Dimes, too. That’s the moral of this story and whichever one it takes getting for his team to win on any given night, that’s just what he’ll do.
