The Miami Heat were in the middle of a tough-fought contest in Portland. So, how could there be breaking news affecting them as they were dead in the middle of a brutal war of attrition in the Moda Center?

Here’s how. Well, perhaps.

After a six-point loss by the Milwaukee Bucks to the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, news broke that Milwaukee Bucks are planning on waiving DeMarcus Cousins ahead of Friday’s deadline.

That is the point where all non-guaranteed contracts are to be guaranteed for the rest of the year.

Cousins has averaged 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game in his 17 games with the Bucks, while shooting 46.6 percent from the field and 27.1 percent from behind the arc. Cousins had 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals in Wednesday night’s loss to the Toronto Raptors.

With him on the outs in Milwaukee and with production like that, there are sure to be teams looking his way, as stated in Charania’s report. Should the Heat be among that group?
