Miami Heat: Will Their Floor General Be Able To Make The Team?
Perhaps the most important player in keeping the Heat afloat despite injuries and COVID-19 protocols, Kyle Lowry has done everything a team could ask for a player to do in his first season.
Kyle Lowry
Lowry has given the Heat the crucial playmaking ability they craved and it has translated into excellent ball movement. Lowry’s vision and accuracy have been inspiring to watch as he has chalked up 281 assists in 34 games, tying him for fifth place in the NBA.
Lowry’s excellent effort on the defensive end cannot be understated. Once again, he is leading the NBA in charges drawn.
He has helped the Miami heat look like an elite defensive force, even when two of their best defenders, Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, have been inactive.
Lowry has been terrific. Has he risen to the level of an All-Star?
In terms of team impact, absolutely. In terms of statistics, probably not.
However, one player who has been named an All-Star before despite his inability to fill up the stat sheet was Draymond Green, who might receive an All-Star selection again this year for his tremendous defensive effort.
If Draymond could be selected, there is a slight chance Lowry could too, especially in a slightly weaker Eastern Conference. However, the NBA is so talented, so someone will inevitably get snubbed.
