The second thing is a bit more drawn out. While Marcus Garrett has the opportunity to be a special defensive player for the Miami Heat down the road, Kyle Guy’s offense is something that they can possibly take advantage of right now in a big spot.

There is a place for Garrett in the future, as you hope that the Miami Heat can keep him in their system while he recovers from the injury that got him waived in the first place. That also plays into the first notion.

They waived a guy that they wouldn’t be able to get anything out of while he rehabilitates, in order to bring in a guy that can contribute now. They are thinking about winning something this year.

Even outside of the injury though, this Miami Heat team has a ton of capable defenders along the perimeter. Guys like Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Caleb Martin, P.J. Tucker, Gabe Vincent, and KZ Okpala are all capable of mirroring what Garrett does for you right now.

The need for what Guy can do being a bit greater— or a greater luxury to have, while you also have guys that can mirror Garrett’s skillset is really all it is.
