When the Miami Heat and the Portland Trail Blazers play, there must be something to it because Miami Heat players always seem to get ejected. Well, at least this season.

Taking it back to the last game between these two teams, a contest against the Portland Trail Blazers in Portland, that game saw Miami Heat guards, Tyler Herro and Kyle Lowry, ejected at different points in the game.

Though Tyler Herro would make it all the way to the end, he would see himself tossed after a kerfuffle with Portland big man, Jusuf Nurkic. The Miami Heat’s game on Wednesday wouldn’t prove to be much different, but that comes up in a little bit.

Starting out shaky for the Miami Heat, as they missed six of their first eight shots, they were able to make the game tight by the end of the first. That’s the way it would remain until the fourth quarter.

Throughout the game though and up until that point, Caleb Martin made his presence known. He only had the opportunity to do as much though because Jimmy Butler found himself ejected from this Portland game early in the second.

A very questionable call on the referee’s behalf, that’s the second instance of a questionable ejection and both against Portland where there has been a quick whistle on Miami Heat guys that leads to ejection.

The Miami Heat would lose Jimmy Butler early on Wednesday night after he was tossed and that was ok. Bam Adebayo and Caleb Martin answered the call.

Unfortunately and on both occasions, they’ve been key guys and without the other key guy or two in question playing (Lowry and Herro on Wednesday and Jimmy Butler in the last game against Portland).

The Miami Heat would be alright though and largely due to the contributions of Caleb Martin and Bam Adebayo. Well, everybody contributed mightily.

You specifically look at Gabe Vincent and Dewayne Dedmon, who had an awesome stretch late in the game where they just seemed to be everywhere on both ends of the floor. However, it was Martin and Adebayo who did the heavy lifting for the Miami Heat to get the victory.

After Jimmy Butler went down, Caleb would activate. As he stated after the game in a post-game chat, he tries to be Jimmy when Jimmy is out. Bam Adebayo continued to show you the things that you need to see in a guy returning from a lengthy absence with an injury.

He looked more like himself Wednesday and that’s also the Bam that’s needed moving forward, especially in the playoffs. That’s an aggressive and imposing Bam Adebayo they can take advantage of any matchup because he’s just that good.

They needed all they could get from everyone on Wednesday without some of their key guys going and that’s just what they got. They have a day off before another matchup with Atlanta on Friday and another day in between that, before getting ready for a Lakers showdown on Sunday.
