Miami Heat: 3 March Madness Prospects To Keep An Eye On- Kennedy Chandler

Tennessee had a tremendous season this year and a lot of their success had to do with the production out of their Point Guard, Kennedy Chandler. Chandler is a former five-star recruit who has had a pretty good freshman season as a whole.

He’s leading the Vols in both scoring and assists (13.6 points and 4.6 assists) and producing at a pretty decent level in regards to his shooting numbers (46/37/61 shooting splits). Additionally, his downhill driving ability and quick burst have really opened up Tennessee’s offense.

I’m not sure he’s got the juice to be a starting-caliber point guard at the NBA level because of some questionable decision-making tendencies and obviously his smaller frame but he’s a fiery competitor on both ends and has performed well in a Rick Barnes system that hasn’t necessarily been the kindest to other freshmen in past seasons.

The Heat likely aren’t getting a Kyle Lowry replacement out of Chandler but depending on how the offseason unfolds, if Chandler landed in Miami’s lap at the tail-end of the draft, he’d be a great fit off the bench on day one.

Tyler Herro would likely assume the ball-handling duties as next season starts but as time progresses, the Heat could start to lean on Chandler as he’s proven time and time again that he can lead an offense.
