Miami Heat: Jimmy Butler Keeping The ‘Main Thing The Main Thing’

Jimmy Butler would certainly be one of those guys. But that isn’t a strange place for him, as in the company of Pat Riley is somewhere he often finds himself.

Follow us here.

Recently, while speaking with Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press, Jimmy actually put himself firmly in the company of his ultimate boss. Using one of Riley and Coach Spoelstra’s best quotes, Butler went into detail about why he finds himself involved with so many things.

He also spoke, a bit, to those that feel like he doesn’t focus enough on the main thing. Which couldn’t be further from the truth, as he literally acknowledges it as the “main thing” in the following quote.

Heck, see for yourself though.

"I need all the different things that I compete in just to level me out,” Butler said. “Too much of any good thing is always a bad thing. I live by that. So, I try to take it piece by piece, day by day, realizing that I do keep the main thing the main thing — that is basketball. I do want to win a championship. We all know that. I do want to be healthy. We all know that. But if I’m too locked in, I forget about everything else, everybody else. And I don’t want to do that."

That says a lot, doesn’t it? He doesn’t want to be “stupidly locked in”.

That joke writes itself at this point though, doesn’t it?
