Intriguing conversations have continued to (dangerously) loom over the Miami Heat, as they’ve wrapped up their 10th 50-win season in franchise history following a, 111-125, Sunday night loss to Orlando.
Other than their undermanned regular-season finale, the NBA’s top seed in the Eastern Conference look poised to make good on the expectations that many have set for them. That would mean competing to win a title in June.
However, the Miami Heat’s largest challenge awaits them and it’s not their first-round opponent. The challenge centers around longtime head coach, Erik Spoelstra, who’ll need to assess a go-to postseason rotation for a team that has displayed outstanding depth throughout the previous 82 games.
With a few late-season changes to his rotation, the most notable has been Spo’s slotting of Max Strus into the starting lineup over Duncan Robinson. Strus joins the veteran and defensive-savvy core of Kyle Lowry, Jimmy Butler, P.J. Tucker, and Bam Adebayo, which will complete a starting unit that appears to be solidified before the postseason begins in one week.
