Miami Heat: Staying Wary Of Trae Playmaking And Bogdanovic Explosions
Miami Heat: Staying Wary Of Trae Playmaking And Bogdanovic ExplosionsIn Atlanta’s first possession of the game, Miami gave Young a light trap with P.J. Tucker coming over to take away a driving lane but still staying far enough away to not leave a shooter open. This forced Young to make a very difficult pass to Onyeka Okongwu.
Okongwu missed the potential alley-oop but it was as perfect a pass as could have been asked for against a near-perfect defensive set. This is where Young could be the most dangerous.
His scoring is one thing but once he starts getting others involved, that’s where the Heat will need to tighten up. The problem Atlanta faced was that Young didn’t move the ball as much as he tried to force bad looks.
Young was either on the ball or less than involved, while there wasn’t much in between. Young missed some open looks too but in general, he just had a terrible game, shooting 0-7 from three and only making one field goal throughout the entire game.
This was fortunate for Miami and after the game, Jimmy Butler even recognized that Atlanta missed a lot of shots. However, the Miami Heat did play him closely, forcing him to make bad decisions and turn the ball over six times.
That’s key to it all too, but you have to count on them making some shots at some point as well.
