Miami Heat Playoffs: Jimmy Butler Does Something D-Wade And LeBron Didn’t
The Miami Heat got another crucial victory on Tuesday night in the second game of their opening-round NBA Playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks. Though the Atlanta team came out with a much better effort in this particular contest, it still wouldn’t be enough to secure them a victory in the end.
While the Miami Heat made plays all game long and especially in the biggest of moments, the entirety of the team, there was one man who was just, flat-out, beside himself between the lines on Tuesday. Jimmy Butler was a different beast and the kind that must enjoy feasting on roasted hawk.
Finishing the game with 45 points, five boards, and five dimes, he would set his new career-high for a playoff game. Along the way, he would also continue to etch himself into the Miami Heat history books.
Check this out, but here’s a hint first. Jimmy Butler is now among elite company—and we do mean elite.
Yes, Jimmy Butler is now in the same stratosphere of Miami Heat playoff performer as the franchise’s best player ever, Dwyane Wade, and the man who might be the best player to ever play NBA basketball, LeBron James.
The Miami Heat got another victory in Game 2 of their opening-round series Tuesday. In it, Jimmy Butler did something Dwyane Wade and LeBron James didn’t.
However, things can be taken a step further. Apparently, not only did Jimmy place himself in that company by going for the third-most points ever in a Miami Heat playoff game but he did so on the way to doing something that neither of the other two all-timers mentioned here managed to be able to do.
Jimmy’s 45-point game, again the third-most ever scored in a playoff game by a Miami Heat player, along with his five rebounds and assists each, had the most flawless of such performances as well for the Miami Heat. He didn’t cough the ball up once for his team while he was toting them to the finish line.
What a guy. What a freaking guy.
Jimmy Butler will never catch either of the other two players’ overall greatness in terms of the NBA, although a great player himself in his own right, but he does have this over them.
And you know what, you should be beyond happy to have him on your favorite team if you support the Miami Heat. This is just the latest reason.
