Miami Heat: And That’s Quite Alright, They’ll Just Have To Demand The Attention
People are calling the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics series the Eastern Conference Finals, as if the winner will make short work of Miami. It’s genuinely strange.
So how did we get here? Well, the bubble didn’t help and neither did the Lakers.
Totally flailing and failing after the Finals doesn’t benefit the runner-up of that finals either. But that doesn’t really explain the lack of faith.
It might be because some of this team’s main contributors, Bam and Tyler, aren’t superstars from free agency, like the 2010s era teams, therefore having fewer expectations on them. Even then though, it really doesn’t make sense.
Jimmy Butler is a star, Kyle Lowry is a proven champion, and Erik Spoelstra is, historically, one of the best to ever coach. The man is top-15, for crying out loud.
Regardless of why, this is where we are. A number one seeded team that no one really believes in.
And I’m not saying it’s a bad thing either. There is real energy behind this narrative.
You just have to find it interesting that a team from say, San Antonio, Texas, held this attitude before against the Heat, while now Miami has seemed to adopt it. Miami is now the small market ready to shock the world.
The team doesn’t have super-duper stars but it has a great TEAM with great depth, great coaching, and great culture. The Miami Heat might not be the all-around favorites, but now they’ve found something else, an energy that might be even better for the time being.
