Miami Heat: Grading Bam Adebayo’s 2021-22 Season

Bam Adebayo was on his way to making it to his second All-Star game before he missed 22 games after having right thumb surgery. Thinking about his defense again, that also has to be the reason why he wasn’t more highly touted when it came to the NBA’s Defensive Player Of The Year award.

Because of those missed games, the national media didn’t vote for Adebayo to make their final ballot. Well, you have to assume that.

All you heard from anyone with a major NBA platform was that Adebayo “missed 22 games”.

However, Rudy Gobert only play 56 games in the year where he won his first of three such awards.

Yes, back in 2018, Rudy Gobert only played 56 games. It would seem as though the media just picks and chooses what story they want to run away with and when.

On another note, Adebayo put up 19.1 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game this season. Those are pretty good numbers for your starting center.

This is where Miami fans go back and forth on Adebayo’s skill though. The camp of choice here is that Adebayo can still be better.
