Miami Heat: Though A Long Shot, There Are Ways To Possibly Get It Done

Ivey is quickly becoming the obvious choice at four. Sacramento is sitting at four and with something of a distressed asset in Fox.

On the one hand and before the end of the year, Fox seemed to be spinning his wheels. They could trade him for a bit less in the name of the elusive temptress that is an immediate success.

On the other hand, Northern California’s team could be in the undesirable position of drafting based on need instead of value. Why should Miami Heat fans care?

Well, because a team itching to get out of a contract for the idea of something grander is how consistently good teams add talent. Here are a few ways to get Fox to the Miami Heat, building playmaking and ball movement in Miami along the way.

These are things they desperately need, as well as a point guard who can stay healthy.

Potential Trades To Acquire Fox

In the first option, the Miami Heat would take Fox, while sending P.J. Tucker and Duncan Robinson to the Detriot Pistons. Jerami Grant would, inevitably, land in Sacramento.

This gives the Kings some shooting around their new guard in Ivey, a talented defender, and vet for a young Pistons team while opening up shots to young talent. Taking on Robinson’s contract to free up cash would also likely cost picks.

There are more options out there though, such as this one.

The Heat could trade Kyle Lowry for Fox, swapping second-round picks, giving the Kings a veteran guard to play alongside the young talent and Miami a guard who can withstand the rigors of a playoff run.

The crucial piece to all of this would be the ability to bring in a young playmaker for the Heat while also taking advantage of the situation in Sacramento. The Kings have an asset that could keep them away from a generational star, such as Ivey.

Or… they could move Fox and focus on the upside of the potential number four pick.
