Miami Heat: Floor for Marcus Garrett’s role in 2022-23 season

NBA two-way players are permitted up to 50 games played with the big club.

Floor: Spot Specialist Player Who Never Challenges The Limit On Two-Way Deal

If the player doesn’t earn a regular role, then managing the minutes and appearances is moot, because said player will likely never push up close to the 50 games limit in the first place.

That could be Garrett’s role. If Garrett can’t find consistent offense in his opportunities, the most likely culprit if he is to not ascend, then he could be relegated to a spot specialist role.

That means he will be a “specialist”, only brought in to guard certain guys that have presented matchup issues for everyone else or have gotten the preferred guys in foul trouble, and only in those certain “spots”. It won’t be consistent or game to game, but purely situational and momentary.

That’s his ceiling and floor for the coming season. Though, overall, you can see him carving out a really good career and especially if it’s with the Miami Heat.

dark. Next. Gabe Vincent has a case to be made for ‘most underrated’

He is nowhere near the caliber of player, but with his ability to man the point guard spot, with his build, and chest of tools, he has a lot of Gary Payton to him. And the Heat can certainly get the best out of that.
