Miami Heat: Gabe Vincent has a case to be made for ‘most underrated’
Miami Heat: Though Gabe Vincent Isn’t ‘Elite’ Anywhere, He’s Good Everywhere
Where Strus excels from deep and has the athleticism to excel at the rim, he hasn’t quite found his nitch in the middle areas yet. Adding a mid-range pull-up to his game would do wonders.
At this very moment, Vincent is an excellent three-level scorer. He actually began to make good on his supposed calling card this past season as well, his outside shooting.
He even showed the ability to get all the way to the rim to acrobatically finish and even stopped to pop the mid-range shot when it was given to him. Not only is his offense three levels from a scoring perspective, but he showed an increased ability to be a playmaker this past year as well.
The final strand in the binding tie here though is Vincent’s growing defensive prowess. At this point, Vincent is a very good guard defender and has the potential to be great on that side of the ball if his trajectory continues.
When you look at it from the perspective of raw offensive numbers, Strus averaged about 11 points, three rebounds, and one assist. Vincent averaged nearly nine points, two rebounds, and three assists.
Vincent scored 20 or more points six times, while Strus did so eight times. And though Strus is an elite shooter, Gabe does more at a higher level on the offensive side of the ball and gives you near-great defense on the other side.
That’s why Vincent, indeed, might actually be their most underrated player.
