The Miami Heat weren’t able to land a big name on the NBA trade market this offseason or at least, not yet. With that though, you turn your attention to the guys they already have on the roster.

When looking at the potential Miami Heat roster this coming season and based on what they look like now, they should still be a pretty formidable squad to deal with for the opposition. And that’s even after losing P.J. Tucker.

Among many of the other talented guys still on the roster, one that began to re-emerge towards the end of last season is Victor Oladipo. Still though, some and including the folks over at The Athletic (subscription required) think he’s the Miami Heat guy with the most to prove this season.

The Miami Heat weren’t able to land a big name via trade, but they have some on the roster already. If Victor Oladipo can regain his top form, they’ll be just fine.

"There are a few possibilities on the Heat, including future Hall of Fame Kyle Lowry, coming off a rough season. But Victor Oladipo is the answer in Miami, as he’s entering a season healthy for the first time in years. His role is going to expand exponentially with P.J. Tucker gone. Miami still has a logjam in the backcourt, and it will be fascinating to see if anyone is traded. But it’s Oladipo who is looking to recapture All-Star form."

Their logic makes sense, whether you agree or not. And whether this is actually the case or not, there is something about it all that’s both fascinating and great for the Miami Heat.

If he has the most to prove, as some think, then he should be looking to get back to his peak level, his “All-Star form” if you will. And when you think about a peak Dipo, that could make for a really scary thing for opposing teams when thinking about that along with the rest of the Heat’s core.

Briefly, that kind of Oladipo averaged 23 points, five boards, and four assists, while shooting over 37 percent from range on six attempts. Averaging 2.4 steals and nearly a block per game as well, you can’t forget about the terror he can bring on the other side of the ball.

Hey, just ask Jaylen Brown.

Lastly on his peak, the most important of all, and perhaps a bit of a hot take is this. If Oladipo can return to his peak form or something close to it—he would be the second-best player on the team.

Now, it’s just all about him having the opportunities to find the rhythm again. You expect that he will though and hopefully, he can locate his final form once more.
