The Miami Heat are a team built on hard work, defense, effort, and being able to sustain that maximum effort for longer than the opposition can on any given night.

That’s why Jimmy Butler is a great personification of what they stand for. That’s also why they will go as he does.

However and just as important as Jimmy Butler is to the Miami Heat’s ultimate fate this season, as he has been for the last several as well, is Bam Adebayo. A regular thing with Bam Adebayo, you just feel like he doesn’t really understand how good he really is at times.

He has so much talent to be able to contribute in different areas and on every single night, that sometimes his unwillingness or inability to do so is confounding. That leads us to the topic of this chat though.

With all of this, what is the most important stat for Bam Adebayo heading into the coming 2022-23 NBA season? Well, it shouldn’t be that hard.

The Miami Heat will only go as far as Jimmy Butler can take them, but Bam Adebayo has a huge role too. He must look to get to his own offense this year.

Bam Adebayo’s Most Important Stat Heading Into 2022-23: Field Goal Attempts

Projection: 15.5 FGA’s Per Game

On last season, Adebayo should have actually made it to that amount of attempts per contest, a figure called for here at AllUCanHeat. Only jumping up a half of a shot attempt on last season from the season prior, 12.5 attempts in 20-21 to 13 on last season in 21-22, it is time for Adebayo to fully come into his own.

A man with his unique composition of basketball assets shouldn’t need as much encouragement to shoot his shots though. When you are as big as Bam is at 6’9″ but as nimble, athletic, strong, and skilled as he is in that particular body—you should be itching to show off the talent that you’re oozing with on a nightly basis.

Bam just hasn’t seemed to fully develop that mentality on a nigh-to-night basis yet. Now, needing to figure out their four-man situation heading into the year, more minutes there could help facilitate a more aggressive Adebayo.

But who knows? What is known is that they will need Bam to fully embrace the full power of his game in order for the Miami Heat to accomplish their ultimate goal this year of a title.

That’s why his field goal attempts per game are the most important stat for Bam Adebayo heading into the coming season.
