Miami Heat: Tyler Herro Will Be Counted On A Ton This Year, So He Has To Deliver

As a playmaking guard, Russell Westbrook should obviously be getting more assists than Herro. However, Westbrook is known for averaging a lot of turnovers, averaging 3.8 turnovers per game on last season.

On top of that, last season was considered to be the worst of Westbrook’s career. Tyler Herro needs to do a better job of taking care of the ball is the overall point when his numbers were below that of Westbrook’s.

The reason for this being his most important stat stretches beyond the fact that it is an area in which Herro, simply, needs to improve. Tyler Herro has been relied upon to be a playmaker for the Miami Heat at times.

Whether he is starting or coming off the bench, there will be points in the game where Herro is in the game and Kyle Lowry is on the bench. When that happens, it will be up to Herro to generate points for himself and for others.

The Heat are going to need Tyler Herro to improve his playmaking efficiency. He cannot be careless with the ball, needs to make sure he is taking the most intelligent shots, and also needs to be looking for his teammates when necessary.

Expect Herro to bump up his assists per game next season, while also reducing his turnovers slightly. If he can improve in this area, it will strengthen his overall offensive game and skill set.

This could also help with his decision-making in close games, which is going to be critical for the Heat during the playoffs. With a more efficient Herro, the Miami Heat have a better chance of making a deep playoff run.

That’s why this is the most important stat for Tyler Herro entering the 2022-23 campaign.
