In a recent Miami Heat preseason bout against the Memphis Grizzlies, Duncan Robinson scored 29 points and went 5/7 from beyond the arc. This was encouraging, especially after last season’s slump and eventual benching in the playoffs.

Robinson still shot over 37 percent in the 2022 regular season, still high but down from his career average of 40.6. In the playoffs, this saw severe drops to 25 and 29 percent in the second and third rounds.

He was benched for his defensive limitations but it was clear he was also in a shooting slump, losing the one thing that kept him on the floor. This one preseason game isn’t a lot to go off of, but it certainly was a good indication.

He isn’t afraid to keep shooting and that’s exactly how shooters get out of slumps. They have to keep shooting, as the most important shot is always the next one.
