Miami Heat: Biggest Question For Bam Adebayo Entering 2022-23 Season

They made the NBA Finals in 2020 but Bam Adebayo and Goran Dragic went down, never allowing them to operate at full health.

They were then swept the following year, which was just a miserable year for the Heat overall after a short offseason turnaround. This past season, the team had smaller guys step up and everyone played great in the regular season, which helped them gain the top seed in the East.

Everyone knows how it ended and while it was a great run, there was a weird feeling that we could’ve—or perhaps, should’ve seen more from Bam.

Must Read. Jamal Cain shares characteristics with these past players. light

He’s, arguably, the best defender in basketball and at worst, he’s top three to five on that side of the ball. The energy he brings on defense is what carries this Heat defense toward the top of defensive ratings almost every season, so there’s no worry about the two-way aspect of his game.

He’ll forever be special when it comes to rotating, guarding one through five, playing passing lanes, and doing anything you want on defense. It’s the offensive side of the ball that bothers you at times.

He has shown that he can score the ball when he wants to. He’s not a pure scorer, such as Joel Embiid or Kevin Durant, but he has the talent to take over ball games offensively.

What he did in both Game 3 and 7 in the ECF against one of the best defenses in the league says enough. He averaged 25 points, 21.5 attempts, and all while shooting nearly 63 percent from the field.
