As the Miami Heat continue to get started along their season, they find themselves with a record of 1-2. Coming off of their first win of the season over Toronto on Saturday, they will face those same Raptors again on Monday night in the second of their mini-series, of sorts.

They’ll do so in this contest without the services of Caleb Martin though, as he was involved in the minor scuffle with Raptors big man, Christian Koloko. Outside of just Martin though for Miami, the guy that may have been in line to get his first taste of regular season action this season and across his entire career thus far, Nikola Jovic, will also be suspended for leaving the bench area.

With that being here nor there, Martin’s absence will be a huge blow to a Miami Heat team that may need to do more to add to their depth at the four and five spots anyway.

This is a topic that has been all the rage since P.J. Tucker initially left for Philadelphia and though Caleb Martin looks like he’ll be able to give you solid minutes there, it wouldn’t hurt to be deeper at a spot that has seen the Heat have to go to Haywood Highsmith twice in three games already due to a lack of bodies to slot in there.

The Miami Heat may have offered Duncan Robinson for Jae Crowder, a rejected offer, reportedly. But above that, other East contenders may be chasing him too.

And with that, a familiar face has been mentioned a ton this offseason when it comes to the Miami Heat and that particular need, Jae Crowder. Here is one of the latest tidbits on that front though, per Thomas Darro of Heavy.com.

"“They have known they have a hole there and the first option was always, ‘Let’s see if we can fix it from within.’ They’re trying that with (Caleb) Martin, but that might be asking too much of him. Martin could wind up being a key to it because they can’t trade him until January because he just signed, but he has some value. They’ve tried to see what’s there for Duncan Robinson but there really is not much of a market unless you get a team willing to play him for a year and try to flip his contract next summer. They tried with Phoenix for Jae Crowder, but Phoenix did not want Robinson,”"

But wait, there’s more. The rabbit hole may get deeper.

It’s not just as if the Miami Heat have to go back to the drawing board if they want Crowder and if the details above are, indeed, true, but they may have to do it quickly and with intention, as they seem to have competition on the matter.

With the same thing, sort of, happening before in the year that Milwaukee won the title, where you can be sure the Heat were in the mix for P.J. Tucker, the Bucks may look to swoop in again and pilfer the Heat’s target.

And with his defense and remaining potential as a range shooter, he could really help Atlanta out as well. Only time will tell where Jae Crowder actually plays ball at this season, but one thing is for sure.
