As the Miami Heat trudge through the beginning of their season, getting off to a sluggish start at 4-7 which is currently good enough 12th in the Eastern Conference, they have a bit of figuring to do to get things back on track.

However, if there is any organization that you trust to do just that, it’s the Miami Heat.

A roster featuring these players, coached by this particular coach, and all orchestrated by the particular guys that orchestrate it all, then you should do nothing but believe that they will give themselves all the best chances to compete before this thing is all said and done.

And a big part of that is making sure that they have the right pieces in place. To make the machine run as smoothly as possible, you must make sure that each individual cog is, not only, doing its job at a high and efficient level but also doing it in a manner that allows every other widget around it to do its job in the same manner.

And with that, the Miami Heat, perhaps, still have one of their most interesting cogs in the toolbox.

The Miami Heat have a need for more depth at the forward spot. They also have one particular maneuver they haven’t gone to yet and perhaps, on purpose.

On a two-way deal for the Miami Heat, Jamal Cain has yet to log a single minute of action in the regular season.

Now, with his two-way status, that means that he only has 50 eligible games of action allotted to him on that particular deal. That leads to a question.

Are the Miami Heat saving Jamal Cain’s games? Are they biding their time until they have figured some things out, exhausted all options, or just have hit a certain number before they unleash one of their youngest new pieces?

That could be the case, wanting to get all of that value out of his contract before having to make a decision. And if what we have seen from Cain is of any indication, they’d be forced to exhaust his games and sign him for the remainder of the year as soon as they began to play him, as they did with Caleb Martin on last season.

And the reason that you are sure it would happen is the reason why it needs to happen. They have a need for depth and quality minutes at a spot that Cain can fill.

And not only can he help fill it but dare it be said that his versatility, energy, and athleticism could actually give them a needed boost. In any event, the Miami Heat probably know that too and that’s why they just might be saving him to make the most of the allotted games on a more team-friendly contract.
