Miami Heat Rumors: Rui Hachimura talks not great for a Kyle Kuzma deal
The Miami Heat might certainly be active as the NBA’s Trade Deadline approaches. With a few potential needed additions in mind, the Miami Heat could choose to go in several different directions when it comes to a potential addition.
While some will point to an upgrade at the guard position, potentially a swap with Minnesota featuring Kyle Lowry and D’Angelo Russell, there are many out there that will immediately point to a greater need for size on the roster. Now, whether that comes in the form of more depth at the power forward or center position, specifically, is another question.
And when it comes to that four spot, there has been a guy linked to the Miami Heat that would seem to fit perfectly with what it is they want to do on both sides of the ball. Kyle Kuzma of the Washington Wizards, currently averaging 21.6 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.9 assists on the year while shooting right at 34 percent from distance on 7.3 attempts per, is a guy that has been mentioned as a guy that may be moved this season.
The Miami Heat may be in the market to make a move for a guy. And if that target was Kyle Kuzma, things may be changing on that front in Washington.
But then, this report began to make the rounds on Wednesday afternoon.
Yet to play more than 57 games in a season so far throughout his four-year career, Rui Hachimura appears to be on the outs with the Wizards. And while Hachimura can certainly go and help a team looking for depth and production at the forward spot right now, he isn’t the prize when it comes to the Wizards’ crop of forwards that might be on the move.
That’s especially in light of the “logjam” mentioned by Charania. And if you want to create more opportunities for any of them on that roster to shine, it’s Kuzma.
Playing more small forward than power forward for the Wiz this season, it seems, Kuzma is the type of guy that, again, fits right into what the Miami Heat want to be on both sides of the ball. A big, versatile, skilled guy that can shoot it well enough to play beside Bam Adebayo, but is also athletic enough to be able to switch almost anything on the other side of the ball as well.
Plain and simple, Kuz would be a perfect fit for this Miami Heat mix and just what it would take to give them a needed jolt. However, this latest report has to put a damper on those hopes.
