The Miami Heat had an opportunity to come out and handle business on Wednesday night in order to hopefully climb further up the standings in the NBA’s Eastern Conference. And though in some contests you can’t tell if the Miami Heat are well aware of the situation at hand or not, that wasn’t the case on Wednesday night.
Though the Knicks would come out and jump right on top of the Miami Heat, Miami would quickly assert themselves on the offensive end as well. Getting out to a hot start from the three-point line, they would pull back even with the Knicks pretty quickly with the long ball.
And that hot shooting would help carry them all the way throughout the game, with big shots, and quite a few of them coming from Gabe Vincent early on. He would finish with 19 points on 3-5 shooting from three and 8-12 shooting overall.
And of course, he wouldn’t be alone, as Jimmy Butler and the rest of his teammates would also have massive hands in helping Miami get this one. Pushing towards the fourth quarter though, as the game began to hang in the balance a bit, the Knicks would make a push to tie the game up.
The Miami Heat are attempting to fight their way out of NBA Playoff Play-In territory if they can help it. And a key win over the Knicks certainly helps.
That’s when a guy that has become a usual suspect in the fourth period for the Miami heat would step up. With just eight points through the first three periods of the game, number 14 for the Miami Heat, Tyler Herro, would do what he does to help the Heat get a win, which on this night was apparently to finish with 14 fourth-quarter points alone.
Propelling the Miami Heat to victory off some huge shots that included two huge threes, one being from his favorite clutch corner and the other right over the top of a defending Julius Randle from the top of the key, the Miami Heat’s young star would continue his fourth quarter excellence.
The Miami Heat managed to climb numerically even with the Brooklyn Nets in the standings from a games back perspective, though still virtually sitting behind them due to the fact that the Nets have played two fewer games than the Miami Heat have at this point.
With the Nets facing the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday, after being defeated by that same Cleveland team on Tuesday, they may take a step back on their own accord after that game. If that isn’t enough though, the Miami Heat have their own chance to handle the business themselves, as they face the Nets on Saturday.
And coming off a big win against the other New York team on Wednesday evening, one can only imagine that they should be ready to do just that.
